Pay as you weigh

A buffet restaurant in China’s prosperous Guangzhou province recently introduced a new type of charging standard, reports the China Daily.

The restaurant requires children who are shorter than 140 centimetres to pay according to their weight. For example, a child who weighs 25 kilograms will be asked to pay 25 Yuan (US $3) while one who weighs 30 kilograms pay 30 Yuan. The provision has become popular with parents, especially of thinner children who now pay less than they otherwise would.

Ten of us popped over to Belfast this evening and had a meal at the lovely Zen. We all had a great time, an a little too much alcohol.

A delightful restaurant that is a must for the locals and well worth a visit when passing. Highly recommenced by all that have dined. Parties welcome and catered for and a set party menu is available on request.

Although my wife's favourite dish of "Kema Peas" was not on the menu, when asked the restaurant offered to make it for her.

Back from Portugal this morning. Decided to take the kids out for a meal at a new local mexican. From Monday to Thursday, kids eat free!!

Between us, we drank and ate the following:

* Chilli Nacos (with Guacamoli, sour Cream and Salsa)

* Chicken Burritos
* Smokey BBQ Ribs

* Ice Cream

A great time was had by all, that is until we received the bill. Because I had told a member of staff it was my wife's Birthday they sang happy birthday and gave her a free cocktail. When we checked the bill the childrens meals had been included on the bill.

I pointed this out and eventually they took the meals off. It's not about the £7, but the principle that if you advertise an offer you need to follow through. They originally explained that because we were there as a "party" the offer doesn't stand. I pointed out that we only went there because of the offer and that if by giving us a free cocktail the bill is £7 more that it's not a free cocktail.

All said and done we had a nice evening, just make sure you check your bill :)
